Workshop of the future for Wiener Linien

An innovative new building for the electrical and mechanical engineering department of Wiener Linien is being constructed on Baldassgasse in Floridsdorf. The two-storey building offers 2730 square metres of modern workshops, warehouses, offices and garages. Around 60 employees will find a new workplace here, which will also create space for training, further education and knowledge transfer.

Sustainability plays a central role: the building is equipped with a green facade, a PV system and a groundwater heat pump. Rainwater is collected in a cistern to support the irrigation of the facades. Great importance is attached to ecological standards right from the construction phase, so that the new building will achieve the klimaaktiv Gold standard. The environmentally friendly company car fleet will also benefit from its own electric charging stations on the site. Completion of the building, which is optimally connected to the public transport network, is planned for February 2026.
